How it works

What does Clean Quarter do?
Residents scan a QR code to report an issue in a room or shared space. It goes straight to your manager dashboard, where you send it to your own team or a Clean Quarter contractor in one click. Every job gets a 48-hour target and before and after photos.
Where do the QR codes go?
Inside each room door next to the fire safety notice, and in corridors, kitchens, bin stores and other shared spaces. Each code is tied to one exact place, so reports always say where they are.
What kinds of buildings does it work for?
Student accommodation, HMOs, apartment blocks and housing association homes. A large building is set up with floors and rooms. A shared house can be added in one go with its bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms and bins, and letting agents can add many houses at once by pasting a list of addresses.
What can residents report?
Bins or rubbish, cleaning, something broken, or something else. They can add a photo and a short note if they want.
Is every job really sorted within 48 hours?
Most are: cleaning, bins and small repairs are what the 48 hours is built for. Some jobs genuinely take longer, like a repair waiting for a part or a specialist. For those, the manager can set a longer deadline on the job, and the countdown, reminders and escalation follow the new date.
What happens if a job is running late?
Every job shows a live countdown. Reminders go out 48 and 24 hours before the deadline, and anything close to its deadline is escalated to managers automatically.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The dashboard works on phones, tablets and computers. Nobody needs to download an app.

Setting up

How long does setup take?
Usually a few days. Send us your buildings, floors and rooms (a spreadsheet is fine) or add them yourself; ranges like "Room 301-320" add twenty rooms at once. Every location gets its own QR code.
How do I print the stickers?
From the dashboard, open a building and press "Print all QR stickers". You get a ready-to-print PDF, four door stickers per A4 page, each labelled with its location. You can print single stickers too.
What if a sticker is damaged or removed?
Replace the code for that location in one click and print a new sticker. The old code stops working.
How do my team get access?
We set up your managers, who sign in with an emailed link or a password. Agents with many houses can switch between them with a quick search. Your own staff don't need accounts: they receive each job by email or text with a link to add photos.

Residents and privacy

Do residents need to sign up?
No. There's no app, no login and no account. Scan, tap, done.
What information do you collect from residents?
Nothing personal. We never ask for names, emails, ages or phone numbers. A report only contains the location, the type of issue, the time, and an optional photo and note.
Can residents see what happens to their report?
Yes. They get a private link showing reported, assigned and sorted, with the after photo.
Where is our data stored?
In Supabase's London (UK) region. Photos are private and only shown through short-lived links. See our privacy policy.
Is it UK GDPR compliant?
We've designed it to collect as little as possible. You are the controller for your residents' reports and we act as your processor; our terms include the processing terms.

Contractors or your own staff

Do I have to use Clean Quarter contractors?
No. You can send every job to your own team. Contractors are there for when you need extra hands, cover or specialist cleaning.
How are contractors paid?
You see the job price before you send it, and contractor jobs are invoiced monthly on top of your plan. We pay the contractor; you don't have to deal with them directly.
How do I know the work was done?
Every job needs a before and an after photo, both timestamped, which you see side by side. You can approve and rate each contractor job.
What if I'm not happy with a contractor's job?
Rate it and tell us within 7 days. We'll arrange for it to be put right or won't charge you for it.
